Purpose
Rakuten Institute of Technology is delighted to announce "Rakuten Data Release", an opportunity for researches in Universities and public research institutions to use various data of Rakuten for research purposes.
The purpose of Rakuten Data Release is as follows;
| − | Contribute to the development of technology in academic fields as an innovative IT company. |
| − | Accelerate evolution cycles in internet technology by strengthening links between academia and enterprises. |
| − | Promote unique researches by holding symposiums and supporting to create applications that use large scale data. |
Specifics
We released all product data from Rakuten Ichiba, facility data and review data from Rakuten Travel and GORA (Rakuten's golf service) in 2010. We will release additional data (review data) from Rakuten Ichiba in 2011.
Following data is available thorugh Rakuten Data Release;
- "Rakuten Ichiba"
- All product data (Approx. 50 million items), review data (Approx. 16.6 million reviews)
- "Rakuten Travel"
- Facility data (11,468 facilities), review data (350,000 reviews, 340,000 evaluations)
- "GORA"(Rakuten's golf service)
- Facility data (1,669 facilities), review data (320,000 reviews)
Procedures
Data will be available for download from NII and ALAGIN websites, thanks to their support for this project. Those who wish to receive released data should apply to one of the two organizations and sign an article of agreement. URL and password for download will be sent to the applicant after the agreement is signed. Please access the following websites for application.

Symposium
We invite you to submit your analyses and applications of the released data at 4th Rakuten R&D Symposium, which will be held on November 19, 2011. The presentation style will be either demonstration or posters.
Awards are planned to be given out to outstanding work.
